Five steps from empty pad to a kept note

A list, an editor, and an optional rewrite you control. No folders. No collab. Public landing never lists your notes.

Open the list
Sign in at /pad/app. New notes get pad-XXXXXX so you never land on Untitled. Filter Active, Archived, or Trash.

Type in plaintext
A textarea. Status flips Saving → Saved about a second after you stop. That debounce is the whole persistence story.

Rename when it earns a name
Titles are yours. The generated id is a fallback, not a life sentence.

Rewrite, then Accept
Optional. Preview beside the original. Discard keeps the original. Accept is the only write; then autosave may persist. Cap 20/min. Pad does not send mail.

Archive or trash
Archive hides from Active. Trash soft-deletes; Restore from the Trash filter. Not a version timeline.

What stays true over time

Notebook++ plaintext notepad — autosave, optional rewrite Accept/Discard, never sends email. Health stays cheap. If this page disagrees with the signed-in app, trust the app — the product contract and tests enforce that rule.
